State-wise B2B business statistics in India 2026

State-wise B2B business statistics in India 2026 showing MSME registrations across major states, led by Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Karnataka

India’s B2B market is geographically concentrated, with large differences in the number of registered MSMEs across states. The latest Ministry of MSME Performance Dashboard provides a useful state-level view through Udyam registrations and Udyam Assist Platform (UAP) registrations.

Top States by MSME Registrations

The latest available dashboard data records 9.60 crore total MSME registrations, including Udyam and UAP registrations. Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh have the largest combined registration bases, followed by Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Karnataka.

StateTotal MSME Registrations
Maharashtra1.21 crore
Uttar Pradesh1.11 crore
Tamil Nadu73.17 lakh
West Bengal64.57 lakh
Karnataka59.49 lakh
Madhya Pradesh58.43 lakh
Rajasthan55.77 lakh
Bihar53.62 lakh
Gujarat51.73 lakh
Telangana48.35 lakh

The figures include both Total Udyam and Udyam Assist Platform registrations, so they should be interpreted as registrations rather than a count of unique companies.

What the State-wise Data Shows

The distribution highlights the importance of geography in India’s B2B ecosystem.

Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh together account for more than 2.3 crore registrations, while Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Karnataka each have more than 59 lakh registrations. Other large markets—including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Gujarat and Telangana—also have substantial business ecosystems.

However, registration volume alone does not determine commercial opportunity.

A technology company, industrial supplier, financial-services provider or logistics business may find very different opportunities across the same states because industry composition, company size, urban concentration and business needs vary by geography.

This is why state-level business statistics are most useful as a first layer of market segmentation, rather than as a standalone ranking of commercial attractiveness.

Why Geography Matters for B2B

A national B2B strategy can become more precise by moving from:

India

↓
State

↓
City / Business Cluster

↓
Industry

↓
Company Segment

↓
Target Accounts

This approach helps businesses move from a broad market universe toward a more relevant addressable market.
